About

KOBIDO® is the name of the historic Japanese company and lineage that eventually evolved into the modern Kobido® Corporation. The Kobido company began practicing its art in 1472 in Shimizu, in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture. Today, this 550-year-old lineage is both an elite skincare company and a professional esthetic college headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Kobido® Esthetic College teaches the Kobido lineage’s approach to facial massage techniques. Derived from the traditional Japanese arts of Anma and Shiatsu, the Kobido method is not just a facial treatment technique, but also a representation of the Japanese way of life, health and beauty. Under the leadership of Dr. Shogo Mochizuki, the 26th Generation Grandmaster and official lineage holder of the House of Kobido as well as CEO of KOBIDO, Inc., the company continues to honor its time-tested approach. Dr. Mochizuki began studying the art of Kobido in 1977 and has since expanded the Kobido® Training Program to include 20 levels of academic training.

The Kobido® Lineage

Dr. Shogo Mochizuki is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced practitioners of Japanese massage and traditional bodywork in the world. The Mochizuki family has practiced traditional Japanese medicine for over 250 years, while Dr. Shogo Mochizuki himself began studying at the age of four under the guidance of his grandmother.

In 1977, he began his formal study of Kobido under Master Ito, the 25th Generation Grandmaster of the Kobido lineage. In 2005, Master Ito himself appointed Dr. Shogo Mochizuki as his official successor, making him the 26th Generation Grandmaster and Lineage Holder of the House of KOBIDO®.

Since then, he has continued to expand the Kobido company’s reach through education, innovation, and the development of the Kobido® Academic Program, which now includes 20 academic levels.
